Built in 1974, the Savannah Civic Center holds an arena, a theater, a ballroom, and exhibit halls. Over the years it has hosted concerts, conventions, graduations, ballet, and comedy, running close to 900 events a year. It was home to the Savannah Spirits of the Continental Basketball Association and other local teams, and in 1986 and 1987 it hosted the Big South Conference men's basketball tournament.
