Independent Presbyterian Church

Savannah

What you'll hear here: about a minute of narration about Independent Presbyterian Church, written to be listened to on the spot rather than read at home.

Founded in 1755, the Independent Presbyterian Church on Bull Street was Georgia's first Presbyterian church, its land deeded by King George the Second for colonial followers of the Church of Scotland. The original building burned in 1796; its successor, modeled on London's St Martin-in-the-Fields, was built in 1800. That church too burned, in 1889, and the reproduction you see was completed in 1891.
