Chippewa Square spreads out around you, one of Savannah's twenty-two squares, part of the middle of its five rows. Laid out in 1815, it sits south of Wright Square and north of Madison Square, on Bull Street. Its oldest building is the Savannah Theatre, at 222 Bull Street, dating to 1818.
The square takes its name from the Battle of Chippawa, honoring American soldiers killed in that engagement during the War of 1812.
