Twenty-one stops walk Tucson around the University of Arizona's red-brick core. The University of Arizona Mineral Museum opens the route; Barrio San Antonio and the Rincon Heights Historic District gather the near-downtown neighborhoods. Himmel Park, the Tucson Botanical Gardens, Isabella Greenway's 1930 Arizona Inn, and Arthur T. Brown's 1952 Ball-Paylore House carry mid-century Tucson. Gene C. Reid Park holds the Reid Park Zoo and Hi Corbett Field. Old Main (the first building on the University of Arizona campus, begun in 1887) opens the campus; the University of Arizona Campus Historic District's eighteen contributing buildings, Roy Place's Centennial Hall, the Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium (named for Grace Flandrau), the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research (where A.E. Douglass founded dendrochronology in 1937), the Steward Observatory, Gerard Kuiper's 1960 Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, and the Wyant College of Optical Sciences carry the sciences. Bear Down Gym, Arizona Stadium, and the University of Arizona Poetry Center close the walk.
