The Bank of America Tower rises in front of you, the highrise that anchors the Collier Center in downtown Phoenix. Completed in 2000, it became the state headquarters for Bank of America when the bank moved from 101 North 1st Avenue. The tower rises 360 feet (110 m), topping out at 23 floors, and was designed in a postmodern style by Opus Architects and Engineers.
On the second floor you’ll find a Bank of America branch, the main lobby, and the elevators that carry people up through the building. Bank of America also occupies floors 19–24, and the building has no floor designated as 13. This tower has a history of dressing up for big events: in January 2008 its north face overlooking Copper Square was wrapped with an 18‑floor graphic of the Vince Lombardi Trophy for Super Bowl XLII, joining the Hyatt Regency Phoenix in the temporary football‑themed décor of Downtown Phoenix.
In February 2009 the east and south faces were covered with T‑Mobile branded messages for the 2009 NBA All Star Game, when Elite Media, Inc. of Las Vegas completed installation of what was billed as Phoenix’s Largest Ad on the exterior. Its north face, the one overlooking Copper Square, is the one that wore the Vince Lombardi Trophy in 2008.
