Four streets hem in the lawn ahead of you: Firefly Lane to the north, Main Street to the east, Mount Desert Street to the south, and Kennebec Street to the west. Compared to the coastal Agamont Park it sits about 0.18 miles to the south. The town's fire and police departments sit across on Firefly Lane, and the Green even offers free public Wi-Fi.
Six paved entrances invite you in: at Main and Mount Desert, at Mount Desert and Kennebec, at Kennebec, two on Firefly Lane, and at Main and Firefly Lane. Paths bisect the lawn, encouraging people to pass through rather than walk around. Pause on the Main Street side and you'll find a granite bench in memory of John Whittington Roberts (1870–1904), set beside the original 1896 cast-iron street clock that was moved here in 1905.
A dog fountain stands by the Main and Mount Desert entrance, and a memorial occupies the Mount Desert side. Take a slow look now: note the bench and its inscription, the 1896 clock, the dog fountain by the entrance, and the walkways that cross the Green.
