Skidmore College's Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery is as much a teaching tool as a display space in Saratoga Springs. Opened in 2000 and designed by architect Antoine Predock, this nationally known museum is as much a teaching tool as a display space. Predock's design gives you two major gallery wings — the Wachenheim Gallery and the Malloy Wing — plus two smaller galleries, the State Farm Mezzanine and the Winter Gallery, along with digitally equipped classrooms and several event spaces.
The Tang's permanent collection exceeds 5,000 works, so your visit might brush past Rembrandt van Rijn and Albrecht Dürer, Francisco de Goya and William Hogarth, Roy Lichtenstein and Wilhelmina Weber Furlong, Andy Warhol and Garry Winogrand, as well as W. Eugene Smith, Eugène Atget, Dorothy Dehner, David Smith, Nayland Blake, and Nan Goldin. The museum also preserves extensive art from Africa, South Asia, China, and the Americas. Its architecture and holdings have been recognized by The New York Times, Art in America, and Architectural Digest.
