Hiram Charles Todd House, also called the Marvin-Sackett-Todd House, is a Greek Revival home at 4 Franklin Square in Saratoga Springs. This Greek Revival house was built in the 1830s by a local hotelier and later became the home of Hiram Charles Todd, a descendant of one of the original owners who was active in New York state politics. Remarkably, the house remains intact today with almost no alterations.
In 1972 it earned the distinction of being the very first listing in Saratoga Springs on the National Register of Historic Places; later that year it became a contributing property to the Franklin Square Historic District, and two decades later that district was folded into the new West Side Historic District. You’ll notice it sits on the corner of Franklin Street just south of the square, in a residential neighborhood where large trees line the streets and neighboring houses are similar in size, many in Greek Revival or Victorian styles. An iron fence runs along the north and east edges of the property, and there is a parking lot in the rear.
The house is two stories high with a compact, square three-by-three-bay form. Notice the iron fence, the shading trees, and the square just to the north.
