Albert Kahn's only known work in the state is the Brandeis–Millard House, an early Jacobethan design in the West Farnam neighborhood of the Gold Coast. An early example of the Jacobethan style, this house is the only known work of Albert Kahn in the state. It was built in 1904 for Arthur and Zerlina Brandeis of the notable Omaha mercantile family.
In 1909 Jessie H. Millard purchased the house as a residence for herself and her father, Senator Joseph H. Millard, a pioneer Omahan who served as president of the Omaha National Bank, as mayor of Omaha in 1871, and as a U.S. senator from 1901 to 1907. The Millard family occupied the residence until 1922. Its carriage house sits nearby at 3815 Dewey Avenue in the same area.
The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and was designated an Omaha Landmark on June 10, 1986. Notice that Senator Joseph H. Millard, once mayor of Omaha and later a U.S. senator, lived here near the carriage house at 3815 Dewey Avenue.
