Picture 153 acres of green stretching toward the Boise River, room enough for picnics, ball fields, and courts of every kind. Right here the city gives you room to breathe: picnic facilities and playgrounds, bocce courts and horseshoe pits, a disc golf course, tennis courts, an outdoor gym and a volleyball court, and wide fields laid out for softball, soccer, cricket, and football. The park is managed by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department and in summer these lawns fill with picnics, fireworks, and races.
You’ll also notice people gathering at the river’s edge — this park serves as a take-out spot for tubers floating the Boise River. Imagine the work it took to make this place: the park was constructed in 1959 on land purchased from the Boise School District. Workers from the Morrison-Knudsen company built it with funds provided by the Morrison Family Foundation, and it was named in memory of Ann Daly Morrison, spouse of Morrison-Knudsen cofounder Harry W. Morrison.
