Since May 22, 1952, Utica Square has been the upscale outdoor shopping heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It opened on May 22, 1952, as Tulsa’s first suburban shopping center, and you can sense the decades held in its storefronts. A medical building was added in 1956 and later demolished in 2002, reminders of change and continuity here.
The mall was purchased by Helmerich & Payne, Inc. in 1964; that same owner later bought Miss Jackson’s in 2001. The center has long been anchored by a branch of the Saks Fifth Avenue chain, which opened at Utica Square in 1986, though on February 10, 2026 it was announced Saks would be closing as part of a plan to close eight stores nationwide. Previous anchors tell other chapters: Renberg’s closed in 1998, John A. Brown converted to Dillard’s in 1984 and Dillard’s closed in 2001, alongside former anchors T G & Y and C.R. Anthony.
Today you’ll find a mix of smaller, mostly independent shops alongside national names: American Eagle, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Coach, Talbots, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, L’Occitane, Restoration Hardware, Starbucks, and JoS. A. Bank Clothiers. Utica Square even appears in P.C. and Kristin Cast’s House of Night books.
