Wide grassy terraces slope toward the Hillsborough River at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, the 8-acre downtown Tampa park that opened in its current configuration in 2010. Before you is a broad, open grassy lawn that slopes gently toward the river in a series of wide terraces, inviting people to sit, picnic, and watch the water. Around this green you can see several fountains, a large playground, a public boat dock, a dog park, shaded pavilions, an amphitheater and various sculptures.
A garden designed by Dan Kiley gives the grounds a thoughtful, designed edge, and a small concession kiosk with restrooms sits ready for visitors. To your north the Tampa Museum of Art and the Glazer Children's Museum form the park’s boundary; Ashley Drive runs along the east side, and Rivergate Tower and a parking garage sit to the south. On the west the Hillsborough River and the Tampa Riverwalk border the park — the Riverwalk is a 2.4 mile long walkway.
Across the river this park overlooks the University of Tampa’s Plant Hall. The Tampa Museum of Art and Glazer Children's Museum mark the north, Ashley Drive the east, Rivergate Tower the south, and the river and Riverwalk the west, all within your view.
