Airport Mesa · Scenic Overlook and Trail Hub

What you'll hear here: about 90 seconds on what happened at Airport Mesa and around Airport Mesa — the audio starts on its own when you walk into range.

Beneath your feet, red rock trails converge at Airport Mesa, Sedona's scenic overlook cut into the Arizona high desert. From this lookout you are about 300 yards (900 ft) to the northeast of, and slightly below, Sedona Airport, so the airport sits just up the slope from you. Two hiking trails converge here: the 1.5-mile (2.4 km) Brewer Trail and the 3.2-mile (5.1 km) Airport Loop Trail.

The Airport Loop Trail is a spine that links you to a network of routes: it connects to Brewer Trail, Table Top Trail, Table Top Bogus Trail, Summit Trail, Bandit Trail and Sedona View Trail. That means from this single mesa you can choose a steady 1.5-mile walk or a longer 3.2-mile circuit and then continue onto many neighboring trails. Hikers and visitors often move between this overlook and the nearby airport entrance, where another popular viewpoint is located a short distance up the hill.

Stand here, take in the open sweep of the overlook, note the paths beneath your feet and plan which trail connection you'll follow next. Northeast, the airport entrance viewpoint waits, with trails fanning out from this mesa toward whichever route you choose next.
