Eleven buildings on the National Register of Historic Places stand within the Fayetteville Street Historic District here in Raleigh. This district encompasses the 100–400 blocks of Fayetteville Street, the 00–100 blocks of the south side of West Hargett Street, the 00 block of the north side of West Martin Street, and the 100–400 blocks of South Salisbury Street. Mostly composed of commercial establishments, it is home to eleven buildings listed on the NRHP.
Notice the Masonic Temple Building at 133 Fayetteville St., Briggs Hardware Building at 220 Fayetteville St., the Lumsden-Boone Building at 226 Fayetteville St., the Mahler Building at 228 Fayetteville St., and the Carolina Trust Building at 230 Fayetteville St. Further along are the Federal Building at 314 Fayetteville St. and the Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel at 400 Fayetteville St. On adjacent streets you will spot the Raleigh Bank and Trust Company Building at 5 W. Hargett St., the Odd Fellows Building at 19 W. Hargett St., McLellan's Five and Dime Annex at 14 W. Martin St., and the Capital Club Building at 16 W. Martin St., their façades lining your walk down Fayetteville, West Hargett, West Martin, and South Salisbury.
