A short way west of Interstate 95, your Westminster Street Historic District gathers six commercial buildings along the north side of the street. Take it in: three of these buildings stand just west of Dean Street and three stand just to its east, a deliberate, balanced block. Five of the six were built between 1870 and 1900, and those five present a uniform face of brick and masonry, the most prominent among them known as the Burrows Block.
The sixth building breaks the 19th-century pattern — built in 1933, it announces a different moment with its Art Deco styling: the Chiapinelli Block sits at the eastern end of the district, its main facade concrete with brick sidewalls. This neat collection of storefronts and offices was recognized as a historic district and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Picture the steady line of brick and stone, then notice the Chiapinelli Block at the district's east end and, along the row, the Burrows Block and its neighboring masonry faces.
