Princeton Garden Theatre

Nassau Street · 2017 · New Jersey's Best Movie Theater

What you'll hear here: about a minute on what happened at Princeton Garden Theatre and around Nassau Street — the audio starts on its own when you walk into range.

Warm and intimate, your Princeton Garden Theatre on Nassau Street still programs first-run and classic films with old-fashioned care. Warm and intimate, it is operated by Renew Theaters, a non-profit which manages golden-age movie theaters, and it still programs with that care in mind. Here you can see first-run movies of high artistic quality alongside classic and foreign-language films, and there are Saturday kids’ matinees that fill the seats with families.

The Garden live-broadcasts performances from the Royal National Theatre and hosts talks and lectures from filmmakers, including Terrence Malick and Peter Saraf, bringing artists in conversation with this very room. In March 2017 the Garden was named New Jersey’s best movie theater by NJ.com, a recognition the place wears modestly. The theater offers screenings for a number of area film festivals, runs classic films all summer as part of its Hollywood Summer Nights series, and combines walk-up ticket sales and concessions with a core of members who help meet operating costs.

Garden Theatre Members subscribe once per year with tax-deductible donations of various amounts and receive discounted admissions for all screenings. Notice Nassau Street and the theater that anchors it.
