Straight up from where you are, the High Roller rises 550 feet above the Strip. The observation wheel rises 550 feet above the Strip — taller than the London Eye, taller than the Singapore Flyer, the tallest observation wheel in the world when it opened in March 2014. Its 28 glass cabins each hold up to 40 passengers and take exactly 30 minutes to complete a full revolution, moving slowly enough that you barely feel the motion.
The High Roller anchors the LINQ Promenade, an outdoor pedestrian retail and dining corridor that Caesars Entertainment built to connect the Strip to what had been an underutilized stretch of back-of-house property. The Promenade represents a different vision of Las Vegas than the mega-resort model: smaller, more walkable, oriented toward outdoor dining and entertainment rather than climate-controlled casino floors.
From the top of the High Roller on a clear night, you can see everything you have visited today. The south end of the Strip, where the Welcome Sign marks the beginning. The pyramid of the Luxor. The dancing fountains of the Bellagio. The Stratosphere tower to the north. The downtown skyline. The Spring Mountains to the west, purple in the evening light. The city spreads in every direction, its grid of lights extending to the edge of darkness. From up here, Las Vegas looks like what it is: an improbable miracle in the desert, a city that should not exist, gleaming and restless and endlessly becoming something new.
