Since 1953 the North Museum of Nature and Science has stood in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and its facade faces you. This local museum specializes in natural history and was founded in 1953 with help from local businessman Hugh M. North. For decades it was part of Franklin & Marshall College until it became independent in 1992.
More recently the building went through a renovation in 2014 and reopened in 2015. Inside you will find the listed exhibits: birds; fossils, which contain several dinosaur fossils and an authentic moa skeleton; rocks and minerals; and live animals. Those fossil specimens, including that authentic moa skeleton, are a striking reminder of the range this museum preserves.
As you stand here, imagine the generations who first walked these floors after 1953, the change of status in 1992, and the renewed welcome that came with the 2015 reopening after the 2014 renovation.
