Here in the Dallas Arts District you face the Crow Museum of Asian Art. This museum is dedicated to celebrating the arts and cultures of Asia — China, Japan, India, Korea, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines — spanning works from ancient to contemporary practice. The Crow Museum opened its first location in Downtown Dallas to the public on December 5, 1998 as a gift to the people and visitors of Dallas from Mr. and Mrs. Trammell Crow, and it now exists as a museum with two locations in the Dallas area, with a second location opening in 2024 on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas.
The idea for the museum came about when Trammell and Margaret Crow decided they would like to keep their collection intact after decades of travel; they bought their first piece in the mid-1960s and over time assembled holdings that range in date from 3500 B.C. to the early 20th century. Step inside and you’ll notice an interior that was designed by Booziotis and Company Architects of Dallas. Step through the doorway, and the collection Trammell and Margaret Crow assembled over decades of travel opens before you.
