Ahead of you in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, is the Great Lakes Science Center. Opening in July 1996, this museum and educational facility focuses on STEM—science, technology, engineering, math—and brings together signature (permanent) and traveling exhibits, meeting space, a cafe, and the Cleveland Clinic Dome Theater. Science center staff conduct daily science demonstrations, and throughout the school year the Center provides STEM education to field trip students with programs and exhibits that support classroom curriculum by meeting Ohio Revised Standards in Science.
The Science Center is also home to the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, one of only 11 such Visitor Centers in the country. During summer and winter school breaks the Center hosts Camp Curiosity, offering hands-on learning beyond the classroom. The institution is partially funded by the citizens of Cuyahoga County through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, along with grants, funds, and corporate and individual gifts.
